Hanging Systems
Home is Where You Hang Your House Number Plaques
The methods by which any decorative or functional object is suspended on a surface can be collectively referred to as "hanging systems". In the case of house number plaques, there are two kinds of hanging systems: those for single-sided signs, and those for double-sided signs.
The main difference between the two is that single-sided house number plaques and signs are traditionally mounted against or on top of a surface, whereas double-sided house number plaques and signs are hanged in such a way that both sides are plainly visible. For the former, wall brackets are commonly used, whereas for the latter, poles and specialized "L"-shaped brackets can be found at any hardware or houseware store.
Hanging Your Sign
Let's suppose you have several new house number plaques for your home. You have different choices of hardware and suitable places to hang them depending on their size. For example, large house number plaques can be staked in the yard, suspended with chain across an entryway, or carefully mounted on a strong wall using a flanged single-sided hanging system.
Medium-sized home signs are very flexible in their applications, as they can be safely and securely installed in almost any location. Wall brackets, mounted metal frames, and poles in the yard are all excellent ways to mount house number plaques of this size. Medium-sized house number plaques look nice beside the front door or posted along the drive.
Small house number plaques can be posted using a single wall bracket and a nail right next to the front door. As their size doesn't make for good distance reading, small house number plaques might seem less grandiose and 'epic' than more imposing house number plaques, but simply having one is often enough to make people sit up and take notice.
Using the Appropriate Hardware
Just as you shouldn't purchase house signs that are too large for your home, so you shouldn't try to increase the apparent size of small house number plaques. Using framing elements that are too big for your house number plaques will only make them appear smaller. If anything, you should strive for understated presentation of your house number plaques, especially if they are of high quality. Let the artwork and craftsmanship of your house number plaques speak for themselves!
Whatever size house number sign you're trying to hang, always make sure the surface can support the additional weight. It's a good idea to recruit a friend to help with large signs. If you have questions about the proper installation of your house number plaques, contact the manufacturer for their recommendations.
