Number Plate
The Importance of Legible House Numbers
A number plate is a metal plate showing the home's address in numeric form. While they were commonplace two generations ago, they fell out of favor, and are now beginning to gain ground again as younger consumers find them appealing and somewhat "old-fashioned".
Most homes have a number plate, either beside the door, on the mailbox post, the mailbox itself, or a stone near the end of the drive. These numbers are your house numbers - your specific address on your street. Many people don't think about them much, but they're very important to your guests, delivery people, and, perhaps, emergency personnel.
Without House Numbers, Where Are You?
House numbers or home signs are important for marking your place on your street. It's not enough for you to know you live there; the mailman, your co-workers and friends, and delivery people all need to be able to see and understand your house numbers. If your number plate is damaged, broken, or illegible, you should replace it.
You can either repair the old plate, purchase new house numbers at a hardware store or online, or design a custom-made plate on one of the many popular sites associated with creating custom home signs.
Choosing Your Look
There are many different styles and designs to choose from. You should try to find something that suits your house and your personality. For example, if your home is a minimalist fortress of modernity, you might like the house numbers that are blockier, crafted from a shiny metal such as chrome, in a thoroughly modern and unpronounced script.
House number plaques are most often made of metal, although they can also be crafted from stone, treated wood, plastic, or clay, as well. Rust-resistant metal house numbers are the most economical choice, followed closely by stone. While plastic house numbers are cheap and can be quite effective, they tend to flake, fall apart, or suffer too much damage from exposure. Metal and stone are both sturdy enough to be outside on a regular basis, although they will need occasional inspection and maintenance to keep looking good and avoid the development of any outdoor pests.
Get Your Home Noticed.. with House Numbers
No matter where you live, having a clearly legible and attractive set of house numbers is an aesthetic boost to your home, and extremely helpful to service personnel. Without house numbers, you might experience delayed deliveries, missed mail, and mix-ups with your neighbors. Perhaps one of the most important points of owning a clearly legible and attractive set of house numbers is the obvious amount of homeowner's pride it demonstrates. Anyone who sees your polished clean house numbers is sure to recognize your love and respect for the home in which you live, and, in return, that visitor will have more respect for you.
